Shlohmo is a Los Angeles art school dropout turned experimental beatmaker who took the name Shlohmo from an old jewish man who used to live down his street. His love of alternative hip hop production was birthed through religiously attending the Low End Theory club night held every Wednesday in LA's Lincoln Heights. Its the same club night that has helped launch the careers of Flying Lotus, Tokimonsta, Gaslamp Killer, and Samiyam to name a few. Shlohmo now finds himself at the forefront of an electronic beat movement that is slowly eeking its way into backbars, dingy nightclubs, and music festivals the world over.

He uses obscure samples to produce soulful, lo-fi, abstract hip and trip hop music. Shlohmo will be re-enacting these beats live at the Kings Arms on September 25. Support comes from Christchurch's Kamandi, a member of New Zealands own flourishing experimental beat scene.
