Overview

Incase you didn't realise from the name, Ponsonby's Vodka Room is absolutely bonkers about vodka. More than 150 fine vodkas and house-made infusions line the shelves at the bar, eatery and karaoke destination. You can even order carafes of the good stuff for your table.

It only makes sense that next month Vodka Room, together with Eat Auckland, will kickoff a series of multi-course dinners that celebrate the flexibility of bread wine, otherwise known as potato juice, otherwise known as vodka. Across two nights (October 12 and November 8) Vodka Room chef Murray Wiblin will showcase the often overlooked clear spirit, putting it through its paces as it rounds out, cuts through and balances flavour of five different dishes.

The spirit will be used to both pair and prepare the venue's modern interpretations of traditional Russian fare — diners will be treated to a vodka-cured salmon gravlax, a vodka and coffee liqueur jelly modelled on the Black Russian cocktail and Russian pelmeni dumplings which parcel up beef, pork and kimchi and come matched with Earl Grey-infused vodka.

Spaces are limited to 12 seats at each event. Get tickets over here.
