Overview

One for all ages, an ode to all of the nanas out there; the ones with their knitting kneels tucked into their handbag on the bus, the TV dinner darner and the crochet queen.

Imagine a 12-meter long fence of embroidered street art claiming center stage at Britomart Transport Centre, and imagine the hundreds of people it would take to stitch that piece of art together. This is your invitation to be a part of the magic, working alongside a bunch of street artists to stitch your way into a makeshift community.

If you’re hoping to be the next Banksy or even the next Mr Brainwash, then count this as the beginnings of an illustrious street art career. Get a group of mates together and chuck on that op shop jumper you've been meaning to repair, who knows, you might kill two birds with one stone.

The Street Loves Nana daily stitching event is being held from October 10 - 18 as part of Auckland Artweek.
