Overview
You can expect to see some new faces in Wynyard Quarter from next month as the space becomes home to Auckland’s Summer of Sculpture exhibition, featuring more than 20 sculptural works from our brightest local talent.
For the next six weeks Silo Park and Karanga Plaza will transformed into a contemporary sculpture park, including the likes of Marte Szirmay, Greer Twiss, Jeff Thomson, Phil Dadson, Lucy Bucknall and Barry Let, to name but a few.
The artist-initiated project, driven by the Outdoor Sculpture 2001 Incorporated Society, has been designed and curated especially for the unique landscape of Wynyard quarter. Nestled in the grass, poised on the pavement and projected onto the Silo Tanks, you’ll find sculptures of diverse scale, theme and medium – everything from more traditional bronze casting and carving, to moving image and sound installations.
Summer of Sculpture, is a celebration of the creativity and diversity of New Zealand art. It’s a great opportunity to get out and about and enjoy the talents of Auckland’s leading sculptors.
