Overview
Breakdancing has been around since the 1970s and it still oozes cool. Every year the best dancers in the world compete at The Battle of the Year (BOTY), the biggest competition of its kind in the world.
At the New Zealand national qualifier the best sixteen Bboy and Bgirl teams in the country will compete for a place at the BOTY. Once they make it there they perform a six-minute choreographed routine which is judged on synchronicity, stage presence, theme, music, as well as, of course, their dance moves.
The best crews go through to the final battles, an unscripted play-off that sees rivals battling each other individually and as a crew, for the ultimate prize.
