Auckland's season of open-air entertainment is in full swing. Regional parks are transformed into live music venues, former petrochemical storage facilities become the home of al fresco film evenings and theatre breaks the fourth wall intermingling with the general public in shared spaces.
Mahuika Theatre Company is the latest outfit to take their craft out into the open. For their second work as a collective— following this year's 'Aotearoa Dell'Arte' piece Leilani— the company will present outdoor theatre evening, The Fire Within.
For one night only The Fire Within will explore the fire that glows within all of us. Held on Queens Wharf the evening will feature free performances from company members as well as Akashi Fisiinaua, Lana Mack, Tim Waring, and Ezra Dyer. In their own words, punters can expect "drama, passion, Grace Jones, spirituality, Gilda and Michelle on stage grilling the South Island's very own Ange, heat, fire pois, you name it."
