The Great Mugging

Not an incentive to start a new flat collection.

Overview

Do you ever look at your morning coffee, steaming away in its disposable cup and think about just how that cup came to be, or the impact it will have on the environment when you throw it away after use? Probably not. Well to wake you up from your 21st century slumber and as part of Auckland Artweek, pottery enthusiasts Auckland Studio Potters will station themselves around popular Auckland cafes to swap that environmental disaster for a one-of-a-kind, handmade ceramic mug.

There are 230 handcrafted mugs ready to be swapped out, but that’s not an incentive to start a new flat collection; the initiative is about thinking towards reducing the harmful environmental impact not adding to it, so one swap per person please. If you’re really that keen, additional mugs will be on sale at Whitespace.

Check out Auckland Studio Potters' website for clues of their whereabouts posted leading up to Artweek.
