Overview

2-Tone legends The Selecter will venture to New Zealand for the first time in October, celebrating the 35th anniversary of their debut album Too Much Pressure.

2-Tone is the second wave of the ska genre, fusing punk, rocksteady, reggae and new wave. The Selecter are the band most recognised in the genre, forming in 1979 as the brainchild of Neol Davis. In short, he eventually packed up his pork pie hat and created a competing band under the same name, which led to a whole lot of confusion. The original version, fronted by the female icon Pauline Black and Arthur 'Gaps' Hendrickson, still play Davis’ songs. Over the duration of their NZ tour the band will play their classic album Too Much Pressure in full along with an encore of hits from their back catalogue.
