The Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards 2011
No punches are pulled, no words left unsaid and no bottle left unfinished.
Overview
The glitz, glamour and hard-partying associated with the music industry is back! Rolling out the red carpet and unloading many casks of wine ("it's a pinot gris, dahling"), the event sees a good majority of the nation's industry stake out Vector Arena for a night of debauchery and madness - no punches are pulled, no words left unsaid and no bottle left unfinished.
In short, it's the place to be. With the cream of the NZ music crop gracing us with live performances, you could consider this one of the best opportunities to see a great cross-section of local artists in the central Auckland area. Some of our team might be sneaking/stalking around downtown, hoping to bag their way inside and get amongst.
With all the craziness you can imagine this is a not-to-be-missed event, which is why you'll be able to catch it live on FOUR if you aren't lucky and/or sad enough to attend/try sneak in. There's a wide mix of awards, canvassing all major areas and players in the what's big and what's hot arena.
The Russian Standard Vodka Album of the Year Award sees tough competition, with The Naked and Famous (Passive Me, Agressive You, also finalists for last year’s Gravity Coffee Critics’ Choice Prize) lining up against Ladi6 (The Liberation Of…), Brooke Fraser (Flags), Avalanche City (Our New Life Above The Ground) and David Dallas (The Rose Tint).
The Vodafone Single of The Year sees a similar line-up: The Naked and Famous (Young Blood), Avalanche City (Love Love Love), Ladi6 (Like Water) and Brooke Fraser (Something in the Water) in addition to Six60 (Rise Up 2.0).
Meanwhile Tiki Taane battles it out against David Dallas and Stan Walker for the title of Best Male Artist; and Julia Deans goes head-to-head with Ladi6 and Brooke Fraser in the Best Female Artist category.
A perfect reason to fix up, look sharp and get involved with one of the highlights of the Auckland calendar.
