Overview

In between a stint presenting on pop-culture channel TVNZ U, Tim Lambourne created the Concrete Playground-certified blog The Shutter Pirates, built a darkroom, drunk a lot of red wine and contemplated the state of the world. He also spent a decent block immersed in one of the world's most crushing and isolating urban environments, Toyko, Japan.

Throughout the stretch he set about capturing a softer side of the concrete jungle, finding moments of beauty and colour within the madness. The result is Tokyo Bloom; a photographic collection shot on medium format film exploring how simple displays of colour and beauty can bring comfort within inner city isolation.

The exhibition will feature at Allpress Gallery from December 15 to 22. Framed photographs will be available for purchase over the duration of the showing.
