Overview

If you haven't yet familiarised yourself with Ruban Nielson's psychedelic rock band Unknown Mortal Orchestra it's time to get in the know. Seeing them live will completely entrance you, leaving you feeling warm, fuzzy and perhaps wanting to shop for some vintage sunglasses.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra return home to New Zealand in spring for a four-date tour to showcase the band's fourth album, Sex & Food. They are performing at The Foundry in Christchurch on September 5, Dunedin's Glenroy Auditorium on September 6, Wellington's Hunter Lounge on September 7 and Auckland's Town Hall on September 8.

Sex & Food was recorded in various locations around the world from Seoul and Hanoi to Reykjavik, Mexico City and Auckland. Nielson continues to capture the psych grunge and funky vibes from his first record with tight guitar riffs and clever production. He shares introspective ideas which you can hear in Ministry of Alienation when he claims to be "sick of fake democracies" and unable to "Escape the 20th century".
