Overview

Would you shell out $15 of your hard-earned money to watch paint dry? With our inherent curiosity, it won't take much persuading from us to encourage you to see this bizarre and gripping show, because how could the creators possibly keep you entertained for 50 minutes? There's only one way to find out.

Light designer and performer Sean Lynch with company The Rebel Alliance are encouraging audiences to tackle their frustration with being unstimulated for 50 minutes. Will it push you to the point of insanity?

Lynch is known for his work in theatre in Hamilton, and was one of the founding members of Electra Theatre Company in 1987.

Watching Paint Dry is written and directed by award-winning playwright Anders Falstie-Jensen, who came up with the idea after having a conversation with his 7-year-old son about the expression "watching paint dry," and what it really means.

The audience will be encouraged to turn their phones up loud (a faux pas in traditional theatre) and challenge themselves to ignore the incoming notifications, texts and messages, which can be a tough thing to do in today's technology-obsessed society.

The light-fantasy show is part of The Fringe Festival's epic lineup, and this is a show you will certainly remember in years to come.
