Overview
Brought to stage by two of the most revered names in New Zealand's arts community — playwright Briar Grace-Smith and director Rawiri Paratene set a spell-binding scene as a murder mystery plagues small-town New Zealand.
Capturing our imagination from the very start, When Sun & Moon Collide tells the story of Isaac, a local tearoom owner with a dark secret which culminates in a series of catastrophic revelations set amongst the scene of Mutuwhenua (the night of the dead moon).
Intelligently and compellingly pulling mystery and Maori mythology together, Grace-Smith explores how identity, isolation and abandonment can shape our life experiences to fuel our darkest fears in a stage-production that is both intriguing and thoughtful.
Brought to life as part of the Matariki Festival 2017, When Sun & Moon Collide will run each evening from Tuesday, June 20 through to Thursday, July 6 with matinee sessions on the weekend.
