Overview

The global phenomenon of dining in complete darkness was created in Switzerland by a blind clergyman. French organisation Dans le Noir (In the Dark) has been hosting eyeless events at Rydges Auckland since March last year, including full-course sensory feasts, cocktail tasting, stand-up comedy and pitch black dating. The absence of sight awakens senses and enables guests to completely reevaluate their perception of taste and smell.

For its next event, Rydges is promising an experience much more rewarding than your average blind tasting; a social and sensory experience for whisky lovers. Across two hours on July 25 guests will sample three different whiskies from Glenlivet in complete darkness.

The ticket price includes a drink on arrival, the blind tasting of three whiskies paired with tapas and a two-course meal. It is limited to 26 seats.
