Overview

Given his affinity for double dipping in genres, Mark Wilkinson’s forthcoming Auckland show is expected to attract both those with a hunger for mainstream anthems and bass lovers from the underground.

Coming out of South London, the drum 'n’ bass producer carved a path with releases on the infamous Hospital Records, before joining Andy C’s RAM Records. His penchant for lush melodies and remixes has also led to collaborations with everyone from pop stalwarts Ed Sheeran and Katy B to EDM kingpins Nero, Chase & Status, and Naughty Boy. The most recent partnership on his resume is ‘Hopelessly Coping’, a single featuring reggae-fusion vocalist Thabo. Notably, the single was given its first spin at Rhythm & Vines in 2013. Now officially set in wax, the track will be given a second run as Wilkinson celebrates its release this September.

On what to expect from the show, Wilkinson said, “I’ll be representing my album, but also playing my favourite tunes from the wider drum ‘n’ bass genre. I’m getting my party set going. I’ll also be trying out some new music that isn’t out there yet, and road-testing that.”
