Work Which Loses Value Upon Being Viewed is a digital artwork by Berlin based artist Luke Munn which opens on the 5th of August at the Aotea Centre.

Luke Munn’s website describes him as using the body and code, objects and performances to activate relationships and responses. In Work Which Loses Value Upon Being Viewed cameras with facial recognition technology gauge how many people have viewed the art work, and also calculate gazing time to determine the reduction in the total amount owed to the artist. The tangible consequence of viewing the work plays against the perceived anonymity of digital viewing.

Last year Luke Munn collaborated with the artist Will Gresson for the sonic art exhibition A Present Absence. Luke Munn has held exhibitions in a vast array of places around the globe, including exhibitions in Berlin, New York, Paris, Brussels, London, Montreal and Auckland.
