Overview

It's been eight years since a slice of Auckland's waterfront was transformed from a petrochemical storage facility into the multi-purpose area we now know as Wynyard Quarter. To mark the milestone, the folks behind the harbour-side landing are throwing a day-long celebration comprising all the things that make it a go-to destination for weekend warriors.

Celebrations kick off from 7.30am on Saturday, 10 August with a program of family friendly events. There will be classic yachts on display at the Heritage Marina, a strongman/woman competition in Karanga Plaza, an optical illusion maze for exploring on North Wharf and a circus workshop at Playspace — among several other interactive events.

From 10am a lineup of food trucks will assemble in Silo Park to serve up everything from fresh brewed coffee, candy floss, organic gelato, Hungarian fried bread and empanadas. And in true Silo Park style, a film will be projected on to one of the towering silos at 3pm. The people have spoken and the special birthday screening will feature smash hit musical The Greatest Showman.
