Overview
As well as putting their elbow grease into a top notch musical lineup, organisers of the new Auckland City Limits Music Festival intend to make the element of food a central part of the festival experience.
Forget soggy chips and sauce-drenched hot dogs, the festival has employed local chef Che Barrington to curate a pop-up experience of gourmet food offerings for famished concert-goers.
While Barrington himself will be behind the grill offering up tasty morsels from his oriental smokehouse hybrid, Woodpecker Hill, he has challenged a selection of five-star chefs to create unique dishes suited for the Auckland Eats food village.
His handpicked selection includes Javier Carmona of contemporary Middle Eastern restaurant Beirut and popular Mexican eatery Mexico, Darish Lolaiy of wild food restaurant Cazador, Kyle Street of Americana and street food staple Federal Delicatessen, and Tom Hishon of offbeat Ponsonby bistro Orphans Kitchen.
The inaugural Auckland City Limits Music Festival will take place on Saturday 19 March, 2016, across Western Springs Stadium, and the surrounding fields and lakeside park.
