Overview

Late last year we revealed that Taco Bell is planning to rapidly expand across both Australia and New Zealand with a slew of new stores. Today, Taco Bell's parent company Restaurant Brands, which also holds the rights to KFC, Carl's Jnr, Pizza Hut and Starbucks in New Zealand, has now confirmed that its first Auckland store will open in The Brickworks at LynnMall.

The Tex-Mex fast-food chain will take over the West Auckland food court from early November, according to Clark Wilson, General Manager Taco Bell NZ.

"We've seen an overwhelming response from Kiwi fans keen to tuck into Taco Bell's tasty menu; Crunchy Tacos, Burritos and Nacho Fries and trust us, it's been hard to keep quiet so we are very pleased to say the wait is almost over."

While further info about the opening is scarce, apparently the quick-service restaurant will feature an open kitchen, customer-curated music playlists and free wifi. Restaurant Brands has also applied for a liquor licence, which will operate from Monday to Friday, 8am-1am.

The New Zealand Stock Exchange-listed company already owns upwards of 30 Taco Bell stores throughout Hawaii and Guam. The agreement reached with Taco Bell Restaurants Asia will see with the construction of more than 60 new restaurants in New Zealand and Australia between 2019 and 2024.

While the exact opening date hasn't yet been revealed, fans of burritos, quesadillas, nachos and, of course, tacos, the brand is promising an opening day party to kick off its entry into New Zealand.
