Overview
Found in the heart of the Mission Bay reserve, Mission Bay Pavilion is the ideal spot to see out the rest of the warmer months, or at least pretend it's still beach season.
As something of a relaunch, the modern bistro has enlisted chef Cobus Klopper to lead its culinary team. Arriving from a five year stint at Ostro, Klopper has reworked the entire menu at the Pavilion from breakfast through dinner — he aims to serve approachable classics for casual dining in the courtyard and intimate dinners in the historic stone house.
After dipping your toes in the sand, stop by the heritage-listed building for new menu items including fresh Italian burrata with stone fruits; charred octopus with potato mayo and seaweed butter; grilled snapper with silver beet risotto; a loaded beef brisket burger with chips; or the always reliable beer battered fish and chips. For dessert, hit the vanilla panna cotta or the appropriately titled Summer on the Beach, combing watermelon and citrus sorbets with tropical fruits.
The restaurant has put together a calendar of activities to keep the entire brood entertained. Every Friday from 4pm-7pm the barbecue will be fired up in the courtyard serving burgers, lamb ribs and salads. The venue's happy hour is now running seven days a week from 4-6pm, with an additional after-dark session on the weekends from 9-10pm. And if you drop by between Mon-Thurs, complimentary bites are on offer with every beverage purchase.
