Gala Cafe - CLOSED

Overview

Tucked away in Zone 23, Mt Eden, Gala is an interesting spot for breakfast hunters. Almost more of a corporate coffee stop than homely cafe, it is light, airy and refined. With a well developed menu featuring a mix of expertly done classics (the mince on toast is exceptional) and less traditional fare Gala is always a good weekday stopover.

Not being a huge coffee drinker I am ill qualified to comment, however the 8am rush seems to indicate established quality. Ranked the best cafe in Auckland by the illustrious Metro Magazine, Gala is of course worth a visit - but consider taking out a second loan, because you'll be paying premium prices for everything.

I'd personally consider Gala best suited not for a Saturday stroll and bite to eat, but much more the ideal place for a client meeting or more business style affair - particularly if you're not paying.

Both the breakfast and lunch menus are excellent, and the service has never been anything less than exceptional. Lives up to its criteria and is professional to a T...but sometimes you're after something a bit more offbeat on the weekend.
