La Petite Fourchette

A touch of French indulgence comes to Wynyard Quarter.

Overview

La Petite Fourchette is the latest tasty morsel from Natalie and Romain Le Gal. You may not recognise the couple by name, but you're sure to have heard of their popular culinary establishments: L'Assiette in Britomart and La Fourchette in St Heliers.

The cosy setup on Wynyard Quarter's Daldy Street is dedicated to giving Aucklanders the chance to experience a genuine French patisserie. And, it delivers. The shop is small with simple charcoal decor, largely taken over by the temptingly long cabinet display of treats.

On offer you'll find all the classics: marbe, mille-feuille, croissants, tarts etc. All are beautifully presented, with detailing so intricate you'll (almost) feel bad devouring them. Part of La Petite Fourchette's appeal is the fact you can peer into the kitchen and observe this mastery taking place.

The perfect little treats are the creations of Head Patissier, Vatthana Boulom. Boulom has studied under some of the top patissiers in Paris, making him the perfect person to bring a little French indulgence to Auckland.

There are also sandwiches, salads and quiches on offer. We recommend the duck salad followed with a mille-feuille and a coffee — perfection.
