Overview

Striking brick-clad property The Hotel Britomart opened on the corner of Gore and Galway Streets last October, becoming the country's first 5 Green Star hotel. Inside, Cheshire Architects delivered their golden touch across 99 cocoon-like guest rooms and five suites which overlook the harbour and city.

While the hotel's ground floor is home to several first-class food and beverage offerings, including seafood-centric restaurant Kingi, the refreshed outpost of Cafe Hanoi and Mr. Morris from chef Michael Meredith, it is now preparing to launch a collection of elegant private function spaces.

The Libraries are tucked away on the first floor of the heritage Masonic and Buckland buildings. Opening in May 2021, the network of rooms provides space for intimate gatherings, private meetings and wine and food experiences hosted by the property's executive chef, Tom Hishon.

With artworks by Ralph Hotere and Shane Cotton set against brick walls, The Lounge allows guests the luxury of sinking into banquette seating or gathering around a bar. The Chef's Library is a private dining room hosting up to eight guests for degustation or family-style meals created by Hishon. The adjacent kitchen allows for conversation between chefs and guests as each course is served.

The loft-like Wine Library is lined with bottles and lit by glass chandelier. Its central kauri table is designed to be the site of private wine tastings and dinners for up to 12 people with fine wine specialist David Nash. The Papuke Room is a multi-purpose space that can host seated dinners, cocktail functions, presentations and gatherings of up to 50 guests.

The Libraries at The Hotel Britomart are available to book from 3 May, both individually and in combination.
