Overview
With borders currently shut and international visitors nearly non-existent for the foreseeable future, Tourism New Zealand has launched two domestic campaigns to encourage Kiwis to 'do something new' and tour their own backyard. Tourism operators across the country are coming up with novel ways to reel in local travellers — Wanaka's Wildwire is currently offering pay-what-you-can adventures to domestic tourists, for one.
Tourism Holdings Ltd (thl), which currently has thousands of motorhomes gathering dust, is now joining the party by reducing its vehicle prices to exceptional levels. The 'Get Moving to get New Zealand Moving' initiative invites Kiwis to hire out the fleet of Britz, Maui and Mighty Campers motorhomes from only $29–69 per day.
The drastically cut-price motorhomes can be booked over the next eight weeks for travel through until the end of October, 2020 — that includes Queens Birthday weekend, Labour Day weekend, and July and September school holidays.
Kiwis will need to hit the road for a minimum of three days to access the deal. The vehicles — from two-person campers to self-contained motorhomes — can be booked and secured with just $1 deposit and will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Rates range from $29 to $69 and will remain flat until October.
The 'Get Moving to get New Zealand Moving' deal is available until 19 July, for all travel to the end of October, 2020. Visit britz.com for more information.
