Five Sydney Bars Where You Can Enjoy Sparkling Sundowners This Season

in partnership with

From beachside bars to CBD hot spots, here's where to soak up the summer vibes — drink in hand.

Sydney is a city made for sparkling wine. There's no better beverage to match summery climes, dreamy harbour vistas and pretty beaches. Whether you're shaking off a long day at work or dissolving into the evening after a leisurely Saturday, the best time to drink it is at sundown.

Now that the warmer months are here, Chandon S is popping up in venues all over the place with dedicated outdoor spaces, lounges and bar carts. This summery drop is a blend of Yarra Valley sparkling wine and orange bitters — an aromatic combination of blood and navel oranges, fresh ginger, gentian root, vanilla pods, cinnamon quills and cardamom. Here's where to find this refreshing tipple and soak up every drop of the sunny season.

Set on absolute waterfront, Manly Wharf Hotel‘s Jetty Bar has been an idyllic drinking spot for decades. At this time of year, it’s all too easy to leap off the ferry and while away an afternoon watching the sun disappear. And this season, Chandon S has landed on the newly renovated wharf with a dedicated pop-up bar. Swing by any day of the week, grab a glass for $10 (or carafe for $59) and claim a spot beneath a cheery umbrella, surrounded by Chandon-inspired greenery. Once you’re in situ, those famous harbour views are all yours for as long as you care to stay. Plus, there’s a swing chair, where you can catch the breeze for a moment or two and take a snap.

The Chandon S pop-up is hanging around seven days a week until Sunday, December 2.

Chandon Spritz Bar at The Pacific Club

After a long, hot day, what better way to cool down than by sipping a chilled drink with the sound of waves crashing in the background. And if you find yourself in Bondi, you can do just that at The Pacific Club — its chic design and views overlooking the promenade make it the perfect spot to enjoy a tipple or two. Giving you an extra reason to visit is the arrival of an outdoor pop-up bar. Get there between 4–6pm and settle in to the designated seating to try Chandon S at happy hour prices — just $8 a glass. Whether you spend your afternoon lazing about on the sand or strolling all the way to Bronte and back, be sure to leave yourself enough time for a cheeky sundowner.

When it comes to sunset drinks, Hotel Palisade’s rooftop is hard to beat — the split-level cocktail bar, Henry Deane, offers near 360-degree views of Sydney, including lots and lots of harbour. For the next few weeks, you’ll be able to sink into some of the comfiest seats in town, while sipping a glass ($12) — or bottle ($59) — of Chandon S and staring for hours at tranquil water, pretty parks and spectacular skyline. Making the most of the Palisade’s brilliant location, the Chandon S Lounge is open every day from midday — but we suggest heading up between 4–8pm to soak up the last rays of afternoon. Things are set to wrap up on Monday, December 10, so get your skates on.

To celebrate the arrival of sunny days and balmy evenings, The Toxteth beer garden has taken on a new personality. Roll up to the old-school bar cart, order a glass of Chandon S for $14 and take a wander around. Not only have the Chandon folks brought in this new bevvie, they’ve also redecorated. There’s a bright, summery Chandon S mural covering one wall and vines cascading from the roof. You might be in Glebe, but, chances are, you’ll feel like you’ve secretly escaped on some coastal European getaway.

To visit the Chandon S pop-up, drop by any Friday, Saturday or Sunday, between 2–5pm until Sunday, January 27.
