Purpose for this role
As someone who inherently understands the cultural landscape of the city, your role is to drive Concrete Playground's organic content output in Sydney and contribute to our multi-platform growth in this market.
We're looking for a talented writer and editor with a passion for Sydney's dining culture and food scenes, to deliver inspiring content that sorts the signal from the noise and helps our audience to elevate their play.
Desired outcomes
- Write and edit fresh, relevant, informative and audience-first digital content, and publish this to our website, social media and e-newsletter channels.
- Maintain a network of contacts that you can tap into to stay on top of the latest in what's happening in Sydney and beyond.
- Juggle news with multiple competing deadlines so all content is delivered in a timely fashion to our readers.
- Dream up new feature ideas, commission editorial and photography work and build up Concrete Playground's talent pool as needed.
- Fastidiously sub-edit digital content, making images, text, video and links work together as a happy whole.
- Promote and repurpose content efficiently across our multi-platform ecosystem to ensure the best possible results.
- Track and evaluate analytics to inform decisions and drive growth in traffic, engagement and market share.
Competencies
- Technical competencies: Experience working with WordPress, SEO and analytics tools. A sound knowledge of social media and best practices. A proficient subeditor with a great eye.
- Cultural competencies: As someone who closely follows the news and inherently understands the cultural landscape of cities, you're passionate about the things we're passionate about: food, drink, arts, culture, technology, travel, lifestyle and urban affairs.
- Professional competencies: A creative and strategic self-starter, you're highly organised and efficient. As the media landscape is ever-changing, being agile and open to change is a must.
