OVERVIEW

Are you a creative, enthusiastic sales professional with excellent interpersonal and account management skills? Do you have a deep understanding of the Australian digital media landscape? Concrete Playground is currently seeking a driven salesperson to join its award-winning team as Digital Sales Manager.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Reporting to the Commercial Director, you'll be part of the small but talented and passionate group (recently nominated for Sales Team of the Year at the Publish Awards) that drives the Concrete Playground brand and business in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Auckland and Wellington.

We're looking for an ambitious person who can work collaboratively to create and implement advertising sales campaigns and partnerships with some of Australia's and the world's top brands, institutions and events.

We are committed to finding meaningful and relevant ways for brands and institutions to connect with our highly engaged audience. Concrete Playground partners with brands like American Express, Heineken, Google, Samsung and Tanqueray to create memorable content and experiences for its readers.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing direct and agency clients across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Driving sales, digital innovations and revenue opportunities through the business in order to meet revenue targets.
  • Providing sales and client management support to the Commercial Director.
  • Working with the Branded Content Editor to deliver content and experiences for our brand partners.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive experience working in digital with a particular focus on display, content and/or social solutions, with 3-5 years in a sales role.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Natural ability to work collaboratively and lead teams of people.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Superb client and personal management skills.
  • Sound ability to create, develop and present proposals and reports.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and, ideally, InDesign and Photoshop.

Concrete Playground is growing and we're looking for a gun editorial assistant to work in our Sydney office. If you answered yes to a sizeable chunk of the above, you may just be the person we're looking for.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Working closely with our managing editor and deputy editor, you'll write, edit and produce intelligent and engaging content for Concrete Playground. With an ear to the ground and an unparalleled knowledge of what's going on in Sydney (and around the country), you'll be writing breaking news, producing all sorts of digital content, developing insightful features and managing our directories. You'll need to have great sub-editing skills, a strong bullshit detector and an intense eye for detail. You'll assist Concrete Playground's editorial team to meet deadlines and traffic targets.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Writing fast-turnaround news that is intelligent, accurate, on-brand and error-free
  • Producing insightful and timely features
  • Helping to manage Concrete Playground's place and event directories
  • Building relationships with local organisations and publicists
  • Building Concrete Playground's newsletters
  • Assisting with social media
  • Assisting with the execution of Concrete Playground's editorial strategy

REQUIREMENTS

  • A university degree
  • At least two years of experience in the online news media environment
  • A demonstrated ability to write intelligent, witty copy in Concrete Playground's style
  • Knowledge of fact-checking and basic copyright requirements
  • Solid sub-editing skills and ability to work with a style guide
  • Experience working with a content management system (preferably WordPress)
  • A good eye for images and skills with image production (preferably Photoshop)
  • Superb project and personal management skills
  • Knowledge of social media best practices
  • Expertise and ability to research effectively on the topics of local cultural life, current affairs, food, drink, pop culture, travel, technology, sustainability, design, fashion, film and the arts

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

A smart, confident individual who is driven to forge a career in digital media and content marketing. As Concrete Playground's Business Executive you will be responsible for ensuring the success of our clients' digital campaigns, which will include selling in innovative content-lead digital campaigns, the technical implementation and management of campaigns across display, content, newsletter and social, and the tracking, reporting and analysis of campaign results.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a sales portfolio derived from inbound enquiries and through direct clients, PR firms and small agencies, driving sales opportunities in order to meet revenue targets.
  • Working with the Partnerships Editor to deliver branded content and the production of campaigns for our partners.
  • Providing sales and client management support as requested by the Commercial Director and Business Managers.
  • Keeping Concrete Playground sales collateral up-to-date, including media kits, market intelligence & data analysis.
  • Coordinating sales activities across the wider Business team; such as booking appointments, organising client entertainment & gifting, and liaising with third-party suppliers.
  • Prospecting for new clients via competitor analysis and online tools.
  • Managing the implementation, tracking and reporting of advertising campaigns as requested by the Operations Director.
  • Facilitating advertising campaigns as Concrete Playground's traffic controller, implementing creative assets for campaigns, tracking delivery and ensuring campaigns are optimised to achieve the best results.
  • Liaising with the Editorial Managers to create and produce the Concrete Playground newsletters.
  • Facilitating social media campaigns, including the management of social media budgets, production and delivery.
  • Ensuring that all internal procedures & deadlines are adhered to, maintaining the highest professional standards and successful client relationships.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A university degree.
  • A minimum of one year's experience with a publisher, media owner, media agency, creative agency or similar.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and creative flair.
  • An eagerness to learn and to grow within the business, with a trajectory to becoming a Business Manager responsible for your own stable of clients, managing the end-to-end process from brief to campaign implementation.
  • A great attitude – you must be upbeat, enthusiastic, sociable and ready to learn.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

A smart, confident individual who is driven to deliver sophisticated digital media campaigns from concept to completion, serving as the eyes and ears for Concrete Playground's Business and Partnership teams throughout the production process.

The Account Manager will work across multiple large-scale campaigns concurrently, producing work of the highest standard on-time and on-budget.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, directing, delegating and tracking the production of multiple digital campaigns, ensuring that both Concrete Playground and the client see valuable ROI from the project.
  • Acting as an architect for 360-degree digital solutions — leading, empowering, facilitating and communicating the production plan for the project to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Bringing individuals and teams together internally to ensure that all projects are sufficiently resourced and can be delivered to tight deadlines.
  • Providing proficient client management and organisational support to the Business Team, regularly interfacing with professionals at the highest organisational levels within the client base.
  • Working with the Partnerships Editor to produce sponsored content campaigns consistent with Concrete Playground's style and tone, including written editorial, photography and video content, events and experiential activations.
  • Aiding the Partnerships team with content creation, content building and sub-editing, using the Concrete Playground CMS where necessary, and amplifying campaigns via social channels, including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
  • Using programs like Basecamp, WordPress and Slack to keep the Business and Partnerships teams consistently up-to-date on the status of their campaigns.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in communications, marketing / advertising or similar.
  • 2-4 years experience in project management with a publisher, media owner, media agency, creative agency or similar.
  • Exemplary oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills and creative flair.
  • Experience with CMS (WordPress preferable), Project Management tools (Excel, Basecamp, etc) and social platforms (Facebook Business Manager).
  • A great attitude – you must be upbeat, enthusiastic, ready to learn and the consummate team player.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experienced writers and photographers who are keen to create intelligent, insightful and engaging content for their cities. We welcome pitches for all types of content, including local news, list-style features, opinion pieces, restaurant reviews, profiles and galleries. Contributors will be paid per submission.

If you're sending through a pitch, first check that it's subject is not something we have covered previously. Then make sure you include:

  • details (in dot-points) of what your piece will cover,
  • why it matters to Concrete Playground's readers, and
  • any relevant background or links.

One or two examples of your published work wouldn't go astray, either.
