After the long and chilly weather, things are starting to thaw out as regional hubs across New South Wales renew their focus on warm-weather activities for visitors and residents alike. This month, the Central Coast will join the fun and play host to an exciting array of events to keep people coming back for more.
Central Coast is an easily accessible day trip or weekend destination for Sydneysiders. The towns along the coast are peaceful enough to avoid feeling overcrowded — and yet are lively enough to ensure there is always something to see or do.
We've rounded up some of the can't-miss events happening on the Central Coast that you must add to your itinerary for your next drive up north this spring.

Spring and summer are just the right time of year for live music, and there’s just a vibe you can’t find in the other seasons. One of the music festivals filling stages and venues for springtime festivities is Live and Local, a weekend of Central Coast local musicians taking over venues across the Gosford CBD.
On Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2, you’ll find musicians from all genres playing shows in everything from coffee shops and churches to bars and breweries. There’ll be shows from Tiali, Shacked!, Joel Leggett, Almighty Zilla, Ruby Archer, Mindy Lou and Caitlyn Duran.
In terms of venues, check out the Central Coast Conservatorium of Music, Funhaus Factory, Gosford Anglican Church, Parlour Lane and South End Social. Different genres, different artists, and different venues, but they all have the same dates in common: Friday, November 1, from 5pm and Saturday, November 2, from 9am.

Aussies love going for a swim on a sunny day. That’s a fact. So when an area has beaches and waterways as far as the eye can see, you’d best believe you’ll find people flocking to the waterfront. That’s the occasion for Lakes Festival, a 10-day celebration of the local waterways and beaches that make up the Central Coast.
From Friday, November 8, to Sunday, November 17, 30+ events are popping up across the Central Coast by the water. On the program: live music and fireworks at The Entrance, a community cleanup of the lake at Long Jetty, a pre-loved swimwear swap, coastal runs, kayak ecotours and much, much more. For the full program, including specific dates and locations, check out the events page at LoveCentralCoast.com.

Love them or hate them; oysters are a big business. NSW has a multimillion-dollar oyster industry, with a serious portion of Sydney’s supply coming from the Central Coast. Those local farms get their chance to celebrate when the annual Brisbane Waters Oyster Festival rolls around, returning in 2024 on Sunday, November 10.
Hosted at Lion’s Park in Woy Woy, you’ll find all sorts of oyster-centric entertainment and offerings at this all-day event. Local producers like Hawkesbury River Oyster Shed and Whittle Organic Oyster Farms will be dishing out the goods themselves, fresh from local waterways. There will also be live music and mariachi bands, market stalls selling food, wines, cocktails, and a drinks stand selling cold beers from Six Strings Brewing Company. Don’t fill up on beverages, though. You’ll need an empty stomach if you’re to compete in the annual oyster-eating competition.
