Overview

There's only one thing better than a long lunch — and that's a long lunch with wine (especially in the middle of the week). Armed with this knowledge, The Dry Dock in Balmain has teamed up with winemaker Enrico Sarotto (of Roberto Sarotto Wines in Piedmont, Italy) to bring you an epic feast.

Head Chef Ben Sitton has come up with five courses designed to match eight of Sarotto's wines, including many brand-new releases. Among the delights in store are a king crab tartlet with the fruity 2022 Aurora gavi (named after Sarotto's wife), and a yellowfin tuna crudo with anchovies, smoked almonds and olive tapenade, paired with a fresh and elegant 2022 arneis.

Come pasta time, you'll be lingering over chestnut mushroom tagliatelle while sipping on a complex, spicy 2023 nebbiolo. Then there are the mains: Hunter Valley roast duck with nebbiolo sauce, and a 9+ Tajima wagyu scotch fillet served alongside two 2020 barolos.

The finale is a decadent selection of cheeses plus honey truffles coated in Valrhona chocolate, which come with yet another next-level barolo, this time made in 2018. Sarotto will play host throughout, sharing stories about his wines and answering your questions. Tickets, which will set you back $190, include all courses and wines, and are available online.
