Star Chef Luke Mangan Is Creating a Sky-High Restaurant on Top of a Sydney Harbour Bridge Pylon
This pop-up diner will serve a three-course meal to 20 guests a night, 87 metres above the harbour.
Luke's Table at the Pylon Lookout is set to become Sydney's most unique new restaurant, coming to the South-East Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge courtesy of celebrity chef Luke Mangan. Mangan has collaborated with BridgeClimb to create this five-week pop-up restaurant, setting up shop on the pylon's Lookout Level between Thursday, November 17 and Thursday, December 22.
The 20-seat restaurant will offer Sydneysiders unmatched views with their dinner on Thursdays and Fridays during its appearance. Each guest will ascend 200 stairs up the pylon, guided by a BridgeClimb leader taking diners on a journey through the history of Sydney's iconic bridge as they climb.
Once you're seated at the big communal table, 87 metres above sea level, you'll be treated to a three-course meal from Mangan and his crew, paired with Penfolds wines. Due to the height of the dining room and the number of stairs required to get up and down, the wine will be limited to one glass per course. Also accompanying your meal will be panoramic vistas of the Sydney Opera House and the city skyline, and you'll have a unique vantage point from which to view the Sydney Harbour Bridge, too.
"Luke's Table at the Pylon Lookout is a fantastic example of two industries, tourism, and hospitality, innovating to offer people a world-first dining experience. I am delighted to be working with Luke, a leader of the hospitality industry who passionately supports both industries' road to recover," says BridgeClimb CEO Deb Zimmer.
While this one-of-a-kind dining experience will initially pop up until December 22, further dates are set to be announced soon. The initial run of dates is already booked out, but you can join the waitlist at the BridgeClimb website — and make sure to keep an eye out for an announcement of future dates and bookings.
If you do manage to snag a booking, the whole experience will set you back $295 per person plus a $10 booking fee. This includes a welcome mocktail, a guided climb up the pylon, a glass of champagne and canapes, as well as the three-course meal with paired wines.
Luke's Table at the Pylon will initially run at the South-East Pylon of the Sydney Harbour Bridge on Thursdays and Fridays (6–9pm), from November 17–December 22.
