The Don't Tell Aunty Team Is Sharing Its Renowned Indian Eats with the Lower North Shore
Don't Tell Uncle will arrive in Cammeray with classics from its Surry Hills sibling, including its famous Tso's cauliflower and blue cheese naan.
Surry Hills mainstay Don't Tell Aunty is getting an exciting new sibling on the other side of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Co-owners and lifelong friends Varan Deep and Jai Singh are expanding, bringing the winning formula that's worked so well at their Bourke Street venue — aka Don't Tell Aunty's adventurous take on Indian street food — to Cammeray with Don't Tell Uncle.
Opening on Friday, July 7, this north Sydney opening will carry over many of the beloved elements of Don't Tell Aunty. Tso's cauliflower, spiced Indian fried chicken, blue cheese naan and tandoori lamb chops all grace both menus.
These playful creations are paired with standards that Singh has perfected across his years at Don't Tell Aunty and Annandale favourite Surjit's Indian Restaurant. Chutney platters, channa chaat, lamb rogan josh, Kerala prawn masala and Makhni-style butter chicken will all be on hand to round out the offerings.
Don't Tell Aunty's proclivity for feasting also makes the move over to Cammeray. You'll find a pair of set menus, each allowing you to sample everything you want from the array of entrees and curries.
And, you can book in for a boozy weekend trip to Don't Tell Uncle with its bottomless brunch. For $79, you and your buds can enjoy free-flowing wines and beers as you sample selections from the menu — and, for an extra $20 a head, you can add two hours of margaritas.
The pair of owners want Don't Tell Aunty to function as a more refined, classier counterpart to the Surry Hills original, opting for a sleeker, more traditional look to the dining room.
"Dining is all about the experience these days, people prefer to go to a place where they feel special and can have a good time!" says Deep. "We always strive to ensure that everyone leaves our door with a big smile and an experience to remember."
Find Don't Tell Uncle at 504 Miller Street, Cammeray, from Friday, July 7 — for dinner from 5.30–10pm Monday–Sunday and brunch 11am–2.30pm Friday–Sunday.
