If your plan was to commute to work on the train this rainy Monday morning, we've got some bad news — thanks to the wet weather and staff shortages there are hefty delays on five train lines.

T1 North Shore, T2 Inner West and Leppington, T3 Bankstown, T5 Cumberland and T8 Airport South Line are all affected by delays in both directions, with a spokesperson for the Transport Management Centre telling the SMH that passengers should allow for plenty of extra travel time.

Rail replacement buses have been organised for all affected lines, with passengers being urged to check Twitter and the Transport for NSW website for continued updates.
