Overview

Introducing Live! Celebrating the ‘soundtrack of our state’, The State Library of Queensland is putting on a diverse exhibition of live performances and events to commemorate the bands and musicians that have helped shape Queensland since the 1800s. From now until September, the SLQ will be a hub of music fanaticism and wonderment.

The State Library is turning itself into one massive music venue, with spaces being dedicated to live performance and art exhibitions. Each piece of this massive celebration relates to the notion that music has shaped our community immeasurably, due to the expression of ideas, the commentary on political ideals and the creation of new social values.

Live music venues will be celebrated as iconic landmarks, musicians as cultural pioneers and their styles and sounds as the voices of new generations.

There is simply too much happening at Live! to share here, so do yourself a favour and head on over to the SLQ Website for a closer look at all the installations, talks, exhibitions and events and immerse yourself in Queensland musical culture.
