When it comes to new places to watch films on the big screen, the past few years have been kind to Brisbane movie buffs. The city has welcomed cinemas in New Farm, Elizabeth Street in the CBD, Red Hill, Coorparoo and Newmarket — and now, to the delight of western suburbs residents, it's Jindalee's turn.

If you don't live on that side of town or you haven't in the past, you mightn't realise how much of a big deal this opening is. For decades, film lovers in the area have needed to trek to either Indooroopilly or Graceville to get their movie fix — which isn't too far, but it also isn't the same as having a cinema just a stone's throw away.

Cinema chain Readings is running the venue, which forms part of the revamped DFO Jindalee complex and will open on Boxing Day (giving cinephiles a nice post-Christmas gift). It'll feature six shiny big screens, including Brisbane's second Titan Luxe cinema — which boasts a huge screen, 4K digital projection and Dolby Atmos sound. If you've seen a movie in Newmarket's version, you'll know it's a mighty fine place to watch a film.

All six of Jindalee's auditoriums will also feature fully reclining seats, so you can put your feet up no matter what you're seeing. And, because it wouldn't be a cinema without them, food and drinks are definitely on the menu.

As for what you can see when the site's projectors start whirring, you'll have a choice from Wonder Woman 1984, The Croods: A New Age, The Witches and Superintelligence — with regular tickets starting at $10 as an opening special, and Titan Luxe sessions costing $12.

Find Reading Jindalee at DFO Jindalee, 16 Amazons Place, Jindalee, from December 26. Head to the cinema's website or Facebook page for further details.
