Overview

America has discovered what we have known for years — Wally de Backer is pretty much a living legend. The artist more commonly known as Gotye topped the US Billboard Hot 100 charts today with his hit 'Somebody That I Used to Know', featuring New Zealand singer/songwriter Kimbra, which first started receiving crazy amounts of Southern Hemisphere radio play back in 2011.

Belgians have already claimed Wally as their own since he spent all of two years living there, but Melbourne is where he spent formative years busting his musical chops. So in honour of this fact — and because it's an excellent excuse to resurrect Savage Garden and watch Olivia Newton-John do sexy aerobics — here are all of the Aussie anthems to have commanded the top spot on the Billboard charts.
