Allium Restaurant and Bar - CLOSED
Fine dining without stretching your wallet.
Overview
When one door closes, another one opens, as the saying goes — and it proves particularly true in New Farm. Take Merthyr Road, for example. Anyone missing The Foraging Quail can now head to the new restaurant that has taken over the same site, Allium Restaurant and Bar.
Amidst black and white decor, fine dining is still on offer here, but don't expect to overly stretch your wallet for a great meal. For a reasonable price ($35 mains, $16 desserts, $16 weekend brunch options), you can devour New England lamb loin with pea, mint and Persian feta, strawberry tart with elderflower and vanilla bean ice cream, and Turkish poached eggs with herbed yoghurt, lemon oil, brown butter and charred sourdough.
Sounds tasty? Sounds like too much to choose from? Don't worry, thanks to Allium's tasting menu, you're in luck. Work your way through everything from beetroot and goats curd, kingfish and scallops to wagyu inside skirt with miso eggplant and chocolate cremeux with fudge brownie and malt ice cream, and choose whether you'd like wines to match. Yep, there's your next fancy evening out sorted.
