Overview

Expectations were high when Cribb Street Social opened in mid-2017. The Milton bar and restaurant promised to be a new go-to for relaxed vibes, much in the same way that its sister venue, Mr Edward's Alehouse & Kitchen, is for the CBD.

With a large outdoor area, complete with a grassy patch to picnic on, and a sleek interior fit-out of natural wood, copper and leather (by Shopfitters Open Project), it has certainly nailed the brief.

It's also got every dining occasion covered. On weekdays, breakfast is served from 7am-11am. The menu is standard brekkie fare: avo smash, pancakes and benedict all make appearances. Pair an old faithful with a Locale Coffee Roasters brew and you've got yourself a top-notch mid-week breakfast.

Lunch features a selection of burgers, salads and sandwiches, but the charcuterie board section is where the venue really comes into its own. This is a design-your-own affair: pick a few cheeses (there's nine to choose from) and European meats to be served alongside soda bread, olives, pickled root vegetables and chutney. Pair your board with an ice-cold brew — there are 14 craft beers on tap — or bottle from the hefty wine list and your afternoon is sorted.
