With so many restaurants coming and going, a place that sticks around for over a decade is worth celebrating. Da Mario in Roseberry has been a special part of Sydney's Italian dining scene for well over ten years, and it's a local favourite for good reason. Since 2013, Da Mario has served loyal customers traditional Italian dishes, with a strong Neapolitan pizza offering. In fact, it takes its pizza so seriously that it was the first pizzeria in Australia to be accredited by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. They say when something's not broken, don't fix it, so, fittingly, Da Mario's pizza offering has remained the same since 2013. There's a healthy selection of red- and white-based pizzas, plus hearty calzones stuffed with ricotta, salami, mozzarella, ham, mushrooms, and tomato. Of course, classics like the margherita, capricciosa, and melanzane are easy crowd-pleasers, but plenty of other interesting varieties are worth sinking your teeth into. The Margherita con Bresaola features wagyu bresaola with rocket and parmesan. The Salsicce con Friarielli is loaded with mozzarella, scarmorza, sausage mince and broccoli. The Formaggi e Miele pairs mozzarella with gorgonzola, scamorza, crispy parmesan, and honey. If you're more of a pasta guy, house-made bowls of the good stuff include mafaldine with slow-cooked beef ragu, potato gnocchi with hand-cut lamb shoulder, a risotto with enoki mushrooms and burrata, and oricchiete with pork and fennel ragu. With a kids' menu, a welcoming atmosphere, and a legacy that spans well over a decade, Da Mario is an easy choice for a fuss-free, casual Italian meal that ticks all the boxes. Images: Supplied.
