If you've ever made dinner plans at the Night Noodle Markets when they've popped up in Brisbane, then you'll know that the River City loves roaming through an array of culinary stalls under the stars. Brisbane Powerhouse decided to capitalise on this fact, too — and to throw in some art and music. The result: a month-long Night Feast debuted in March 2023 before returning in October the same year. From Wednesday, July 29–Sunday, August 23, 20 restaurants are slinging their signature dishes at Night Feast If you've tried Donna Chang, Le Mano, Calida, Hoy Pinoy, Siam Smash House, Burn City Smokers and Central last year, get excited about tucking in again. Look out for a snacky nugget-and-caviar pairing from Dine'm After Dark, and Gelato Messina whips up a Biscoff cheesecake gelato for sweet endings. And this time, they have company from Cantonese-inspired Aunty, who is marrying birria tacos and duck pancakes. There's an udon-carbonara hybrid and a Sailor Moon-inspired cocktail from Newstead's Ruby, My Dear, while VICI fires up pizzas and Pilloni brings regional Sardinian dishes. Street food gets a spin with duck-and-curd-loaded fries from Clarence, savoury churros from NOTRE, and Blackbird's chilli-caramel-coated wings. Other newcomers include Poca Madre Mexicana with its punchy tacos and tostadas, and The 203, which brings primo steak to the mix. As per Night Feast tradition, a seated izakaya pop-up is another highlight. Previous editions have featured Taro Akimoto from Taro's Ramen and Boom Boom Room. This year, NONDA will be pairing bar bites like shiso butter prawn skewers and sashimi tacos with Japanese brews. The feast isn't the only reason to drop by. The art and music lineups are free — unlike getting a bite or a drink — with the latest program featuring British electronic musician Mark Pritchard, Sydney artist Jonny Niesche, dancers from the Stephanie Lake Company, and more. A playful interactive installation inspired by a communal bonfire from Sydney studio Amigo & Amigo sits at the center of it all. Also decking out the Brisbane Powerhouse building is Melbourne designer Nixi Killick with a psychedelic sculptural exhibition, and from QUIVR and Black Bear Lodge DJs Hol Sol and Aidan Beirs's a moody listening lounge nodding to Brisbane's love for vinyl bars.
