Overview
Abaji is a Lebanese-born, multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer, whose signature strand of world music is one unlike any other. His musical roots stem from his home in Beirut, where his love of music, particularly Creedence Clearwater Revival, Cat Stevens and Bob Dylan, was interspersed with Oum Kaltoum and Turkish music.
The mid 1970's saw Abaji flee to Paris, and the beginning of his committed musical education. In the search to replicate and transform the sounds of his youth, Abaji has learned to play over 250 instruments and has crafted a uniquely vibrant and personal sound.
You can see Abaji perform in the Judith Wright Centre’s performance space in theatre or cabaret-style seating, and discounts are available for bookings of 6 or more people. This one-time-only performance is one you’ll be glad you saw.
