Overview

One week, you can pretend you're in France without leaving Brisbane, just by eating French food, drinking French brews and celebrating Bastille Day. The next week, you can do all of the above with Belgium thanks to Belgian National Day. Your destination for the latter: Saccharomyces Beer Café, which is spending Monday, July 18–Sunday, July 24 looking abroad.

The South Brisbane venue is also calling its celebrations Belgian Beer Week, and pouring Belgian brews every single day. That's what you'll find pumping through its taps, thanks to more than 20 kegs that it has been saving for the occasion. And, there's a lineup of bottled Belgian beers as well.

Feel like sipping a Saison Dupont, Ducchesse Flanders or Blanche de Bruges? They're just some of the tipples on offer.

On Thursday, July 21, eight fruited Belgian brews will be on tap for the night, too.

Plus, if you head along from 12–10pm on Saturday, July 23 instead, the bar is also throwing a Belgian block party. Drink your way between three bars, hang out in the Belgian bier garden and tuck into Belgian cuisine. One bar will be devoted to sours, and entry is free — although you'll be paying for whatever you eat and drink.
