Overview

Love is in the air at South City Square in February, even now that Valentine's Day has been and gone. Because one single date isn't the only time for affairs of the heart, the Woolloongabba precinct is hosting the first-ever BLUSSH Romance Festival from Thursday, February 22–Sunday, February 25 — and it's dedicated to amorous affairs on the page and screen.

Film fans, get ready to fall in love with romantic movies all over again. A mix of new and classic titles is on offer, with Twilight and Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet falling into the second camp. Whether you'll be swooning over 90s-era Leonardo DiCaprio (Killers of the Flower Moon) and Claire Danes (Full Circle), or checking out opening night's Brisbane-shot One Perfect Match, you'll be heading to the Angelika Film Centre to see flicks.

Also on the feature lineup: The Great Escaper, which could be Michael Caine's (Best Sellers) last performance; Aussie rom-com The Gift That Gives; page-to-screen effort Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe; and Greatest Days, which is based on the Take That musical.

The literary program includes a session on building romantic worlds, and characters to inhabit them; authors Michelle Beesley, Jordan Clayden-Lewis and Anna Campbell chatting about their work; and Amy Andrews stepping through her career.
