Overview

How much gelato can you eat? No, that's not a trick question. Last year, Brisbane's annual celebration of all things Italian put the city's ice cream munching abilities to the test with a gelato eating competition — and it's on the agenda again in 2018.

That's just one of the events that Festitalia attendees can expect— and just one of the inclusions that'll get your stomach rumbling as well. Fancy seeing how many cannolis you can feast on? There's also a contest for that. Eager to watch some pizza acrobatics? If that doesn't sounds like a great way to work up an appetite, then nothing does

While plenty of other Italian-themed festivities pop up across the year, this is the only official shindig hosted by the Italian Consulate in Brisbane and the Italian Embassy in Canberra. On Sunday, October 14, they'll fill Newmarket's Spencer Park with artists, entertainers, dancers, singers and performers — and food experiences, of course, so prepare for Italian bubbles, espresso and gnocchi, too.
