GABS Hottest 100 Countdown Party

There's more than one countdown that's worth paying attention to at the end of January in Australia. Music lovers have triple j's version, which ranks the 100 best songs of the past year — and fans of a brew have the GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beer poll. Run by the folks at the Great Australasian Beer Spectapular, the huge beer fests that tour the country each year, this list rounds up the top homegrown craft brews as voted by you. And the best way to celebrate, of course, is sipping along.

For the latest countdown, which is held in 2024 but focuses on 2023's beers, Revel Brewing Co's Rivermakers' venue in Morningside is getting in on the action by hosting a party from 11am on Saturday, January 27. There'll be drinks, the poll's results, prizes and more, all at a riverside brewery.

Fancy a parmigiana with your brews? Tuck into a $25 parma and drink special. If you have little ones in tow, kids get a free meal as long as an adult is buying something to eat that costs over $15.

Entry is free, you'll pay for what you eat and drink, and you'll be hanging out in a brewpub that was once the Commonwealth Acetate of Lime Factory, which dates back to the 1920s.
