Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, it's Brisbane's new juniper-fuelled bar that's throwing a January gin shindig. And, it's also the one giving the fun an appropriate portmanteau: behold Covent Garden's Ginuary.
If gin-based tipples get your blood pumping, mark January 25 in your calendar for an evening of cocktails and canapés. When it comes to drinks, you'll sip one of Covent Garden's French 75 offerings on arrival, with the mix of Archie Rose Signature Dry Gin, lemon juice, gomme syrup and champagne included in the $39 ticket price. Food-wise, the likes of juniper-smoked salmon, manchego profiteroles and pork dumplings with black vinegar will fill your stomach for two hours.
If you're still thirsty, you can then purchase more bevs, including the Crime of Passion (made with Archie Rose Signature Dry Gin, lime, lemon, fresh passionfruit, sugar and Crème de Mure) and the Modena Martini (with Archie Rose Signature Dry Gin, lime, sugar, a balsamic reduction, muddled strawberry and basil). The next day is a public holiday — and the start of a long weekend — so saying cheers to that is completely understandable.
