When the festive season hit last year, Brisbane Quarter lit up in celebration. Now that Lunar New Year is approaching, the inner-city precinct is doing the same. You won't miss the CBD spot's glowing tribute to the Year of the Rat, all courtesy of a vibrant red and gold LED installation. But that's not all that the place has to offer.

As well as checking out the nightly light show, you can wander through a cherry tree installation on Podium 1 — where you'll find cherry blossoms, red lanterns and red envelopes, with the latter symbolising good fortune to start off your Lunar New Year with the best possible luck.

And, with Brisbane Phoenix located at Brisbane Quarter, you can tuck into a feast as well. That part isn't free, but we're sure that the restaurant's steamed dumplings, shumai, pork buns, rice noodle rolls, chicken feet and egg custard tarts will tempt you anyway. Head by on 7pm on Friday, January 24, and a traditional lion dance will take over the eatery as well.
