Overview

Don't just eat your way through 2024's Lunar New Year celebrations, as the Year of the Dragon arrives with a roar. Obviously, do mark the occasion with ample bites, including at Sunnybank Plaza and Sunny Park — but there's more than just meals on offer at the two spots between Wednesday, February 7–Saturday, February 17.

Across Wednesday, February 7–Sunday, February 11 in particular, the program of events spans tai chi, calligraphy sessions, Chinese silk embroidery demonstrations, making lanterns and a huge balloon village. The AusOriental Orchestra will be picking up its instruments, and cultural handcrafts and plants will be for sale as well. Lion and dragon dances are a given, naturally.

On the culinary side, daily food discovery tours are also on the agenda on Sunnybank's first five days of festivities. Over the whole week-plus period, eateries such as Pho An Eatery, Boba Chicken, Cocoart, Milk Flower and Orange Tea are doing specials.

And on Saturday, February 17, the annual rooftop party is back from 5pm, complete with fireworks.
