Hit up this riverside market to browse for Valentine's (or Galentine's) gifts — then get your skates on with your date or mate for free.

Back in 2021, Brisbane scored a new riverside market — and it wasn't a once-off. Portside's markets returned in 2022, because everyone likes shopping and hanging out by the water. And, they're coming back in 2023 as well.

Even better: for the venue's Valentine's Day event, there's a new — and free — addition. This year's Portside Wharf Valentine's Day Market doubles as a Skate Date, with Roller Baes onsite offering free skate hire from its retro caravan. Strap on some wheels, grab your date or mate's hand, then get rolling, with 150 unisex pairs of skates available from 3–7pm on Saturday, February 11.

If you and your other half really like browsing and buying, taking in the riverside air, and having a reason to stop for a bite and a drink — with or without skating about — you'll want to head to Hamilton to shop, stroll, sip and purchase gifts.

Thanks to The Market Folk, more than 40 stalls will be offering up everything from art and plants to ceramics and accessories — and more, if you're stuck for present ideas.

And, if those hunger pangs strike — or you're just keen on having a drink — the precinct's usual restaurants and bars are right there, including everywhere from The Street Cafe and Burrito Bar to Byblos Bar and Gusto da Gianni.
