Shingle Inn's 88th Anniversary

If you can't picture Brisbane without Shingle Inn slinging coffees and baked goods, there's a reason for that. Unless you're 89 years old or over, the River City as you know it has always been home to the brand. In fact, Shingle Inn is celebrating its 88th anniversary this year — and on Friday, April 5, that means free butterfly patty cakes.

The cakes themselves are a Shingle Inn favourite, but they aren't on the regular menu at present. So, as well as scoring one without paying a cent for it, you'll be getting a bite of nostalgia that isn't normally on offer.

Your destination: Shingle Inn's City Hall cafe. And the caveat: you do have to make a purchase, but you'll get the cake for free if buy something else.

The giveaway is only on offer for the day, which means that you've got the perfect excuse to add something sweet to your Friday — and to revel in Brisbane's history while you're at it.
