Theo Shields: Pure Response
A close look at the way in which we interact with objects and materials that surround us.
Overview
Edinburgh-born and Brisbane-based artist Theo Shields explores the way in which we interact with objects and materials that surround us and how they contribute to the meaning we affix to our own constructed worlds. He looks at the digital age, where we are participating and connected constantly, populated by longstanding and shape-shifting objects. Through a long process of trial and error, recording and reducing, he has created Pure Response, a thoughtful exhibition of art.
Shields will be at the exhibition for an artist talk on Thursday July 25 from 6pm, where he will explain his works and outline his methodology. The opening of the exhibition will take place on July 19, and you are welcome to join.
Theo Shields is a student of art, having practiced and studied at the Queensland College of Art since the beginning of the year. His most recent videos, sculptures and photographs will be on display, and are sure to raise more questions than they answer about our constantly evolving world.
