First of all, Abrakebabra is probably the best-named kebab joint in town, and secondly, they make a mean kebab. They have an enormous selection of Mediterranean food including kebabs, shawamas, iskenders, kebab pies, shish pies and Turkish pizza but where they really excel is in the kebab area. These guys know what they are doing on the kebab-making front, and have won the title of Wellingtons Best Kebabs in 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010 and again in 2012. We all know how late night hunger strikes; the lights come up in the club, you abruptly realise how sweaty you are and how much your feet hurt and are suddenly consumed by a hunger like no other. Stumbling out of the club you search blindly for any establishment which can satiate your desperate, that sudden disorientated starvation can be extinguished by one thing, and one thing only: the mighty kebab. IF this sounds familiar, then Abrakebabra is your go-to. Some of the fastest kebab-making I’ve ever seen happened in this establishment, and speed is often very much necessary when attaining ye olde post-night out meal. You need it, and you need it NOW. These guys do not scrimp on the sauces or the fillings either, and I was extremely happy to hand over $11 and receive in return a falafel kebab the size of my head. Their location on Manners Street is also of extreme convenience, and a stop off at their premises has been known to be the sole reason that certain partied-out individuals have made it back to their homes. A Wellington institution and a drink-dining dream (alliteration skills on point). Abrakebabra is well worth stopping by.
